The Prize Hk is an Award for the Best Book on Hong Kong Studies

The Society for Hong Kong Studies (SHKS) annually presents The Prize HK as an award for the best book on Hong Kong studies. This competition seeks to inspire scholars, librarians and the general public alike to conduct research into this subject and share their findings. The winner receives an engraved gold medal and cash prize of HK$25,000 as well as publication in their book series by SHKS. Ultimately the winning work is presented during ICAS: an immersive platform which unites scholars, practitioners, organisations discussing matters related to Asia.

ICAS 2023 will host its SHKS Book Prize competition from 8 to 10 December at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, organized by Society for Hong Kong Studies with support from Hong Kong Institute for Promotion of Chinese Culture. A panel of international experts will judge each book submitted for consideration; winners will be announced during a ceremony held on December 8th and their works displayed throughout ICAS 2023 exhibition space at ICAS.

On 9 December, in addition to awarding the SHKS Book Prize, ICAS will honor the 2024 runner-up of the ICAS-SHKS Best Article on Global Hong Kong Studies with an awards ceremony and trophy and cash prize totaling HK$20,000. A distinguished panel from Society for Asian Studies and University of Hong Kong will select their paper for selection by ICAS-SHKS Best Article Awards Committee. The 2024 runner-up will be recognized with both trophy and cash prize as a reward.

Organisers have announced that HK$100 million will be distributed among four Group One races at this year’s Longines Hong Kong International Races, reflecting rising bloodstock prices globally and in Hong Kong alike, and fulfilling part of Jockey Club’s pledge to attract world-class horses into Hong Kong. Furthermore, Chairman’s Sprint Prize received an increase by 11.1% to reach $20 Million.
