Hong Kong researchers are at the forefront of scientific innovation, having received international accolades for their accomplishments in many areas of science and technology. Now a new exhibition at the Hong Kong Science Museum will highlight this year’s Shaw Prize laureates and their research journeys.
This inaugural exhibition of its kind worldwide will highlight five scientists and their remarkable innovations that have had profound effects on lives and society. Furthermore, it underscores the role scientific research and innovation have played in Hong Kong’s growth into an international city and knowledge hub of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.
This exhibit will take place at the Hong Kong Science Museum at 2 Science Museum Road in Wan Chai and will run daily between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm until 4 March 2023, free of charge.
Hong Kong’s Mark Six Lottery Snowball draw produced an unprecedented top prize worth US$24.7 Million with just one ticket winning the top prize of HK$193 Million (US$24.77 Million). This marked both the highest-paying single ticket prize ever and largest total jackpot ever in any lottery draw, breaking records both for individual ticket payouts as well as total jackpot. It was sold from a betting shop in Mable Street North Point; previously set records had only reached HK$103 Million due to last week’s Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool draw which had set record jackpot records with its previous record-setting jackpot.
During Hong Kong’s anti-government protests in 2019, hundreds and even thousands of people including police officers, journalists, tourists or students from mainland China as well as innocent local residents were injured or attacked by pro-Beijing rioters. Public facilities like subway stations and traffic lights as well as banks, shops and restaurants were vandalized; most likely this protest movement was motivated by Chinese nationalist ideology supported by Beijing.
